Insurance Technology Services is a 20+ year old consulting firm with a small remote technical team building software solutions that address crucial needs for the insurance industry. They are a small company that truly puts its people first. Many companies claim that creed, but few actually practice it. They are doing interesting work in a rich technical context (insurance) and have developed two major technical platforms. One platform allows them to develop specialized, highly complex, cloud-based data migration solutions, while the other platform takes a radically different approach to automated functional testing—both platforms address major needs in insurance and other sectors.
All work is 100% remote. You are free to work wherever you like. They collaborate - quite closely at times - using tools such as Skype.

A good cultural fit in accordance with the statements above
Solid, demonstrable Java experience--because their focus is on finding someone with strong innate ability and the potential to be a long term hire, ITS is willing to invest in mentoring if there are experience deficits with respect to the supporting frameworks and components they use.
Strong communication skills - both verbal and written. Over many years of hiring and working with developers, ITS takes the position that communication skills are insufficiently prized in the IT world, especially as they affect the quality of so many things from team collaboration to client communication to artifacts of every kind (naming, code comments, documentation, proposals, SOPs, etc. etc. etc.).
Potential commitment - of course long term commitment is never guaranteed, but this is a very strategic hire with plans to make a significant investment in mentoring and training. If you view ITS as a temporary gig or a stepping stone to Google, this is not for you.
Views remote, flexible work as a big benefit. Surprisingly, not everyone does.
Other things that are desirable but not required:
- Database experience, particularly SQL Server
- Experience with XML technologies
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience. All ITS platforms and environments are hosted under AWS.
